I want to say that you've been a great friend of the Jewish people and Israel. I applaud your staunch stance against antisemitism and your support for Israel's security. Our relations are at an all-time high: economically, trade, technology, defense cooperation. These are all great things. It's not that we lack challenges. We have the challenge of Iran's aggression and terrorism, and I'd like to talk to you about how we can work together to counter these things for the benefit of peace. And I want to thank you for this opportunity to do so."

With US Secretary of Defense Esper, Prime Minister Netanyahu will discuss Israel's security needs. The two spoke by telephone last night and decided to expand on their conversation in London.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Thursday, 4 September 2019), at the Tomb of the Patriarchs plaza in Hebron, addressed the state memorial ceremony commemorating 90 years since the 1929 disturbances. Following is an excerpt from his remarks: “I am proud that one year ago my government approved the plan for the Jewish Quarter, to build dozens of new housing units for the Jews of Hebron. Residents moved into Machpelah House last week. We are also dealing with other important issues that you brought up, regarding accessibility in the Tomb of the Patriarchs and the realization of the historic Jewish property rights. While we are not coming to banish anyone, neither will anyone banish us. To cite the late Menachem Begin and the late Yigal Allon: ‘Hebron will not be devoid of Jews.’ It will not be Judenrein. And I say on the 90th anniversary of the disturbances – we are not foreigners in Hebron, we will stay here forever. We always remember the eternal call of Caleb, son of Jephuneh, who was faithful to Hebron, and we act in accordance with it: ‘Let us go up.’”

We were attacked with several anti-tank missiles. We responded with 100 shells and firing from the air by various means. We are consulting about the next steps. I have ordered that we be prepared for any scenario. We will decide on the next steps pending developments. At this time I have an important announcement: We have no casualties – not even a scratch.
