Israel President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin met today, Tuesday 3 September / 3 Av, with representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Bloomberg Foundation, and the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, led by CEO Efrat Duvdevani, who presented him with ‘HaZira / the Zone’ a new plan for bringing innovation to Israel's outlying and socially deprived local authorities.
The aim of the program is to bring processes from the field of innovation to the work of local and regional authorities in Israel to improve the work of the authorities and to improve residents' lives. A pilot program is already running in several local authorities in Israel and will be expanded over the year. Similar programs run in more than 250 cities worldwide, supported by grants, technical experts, educational and networking programs.
The President listened to the representatives of the various organizations and thanked them for promoting this important initiative to close social gaps and improve the quality of life of Israeli citizens.
Jim Anderson of the Bloomberg Foundation thanked the president for his hospitality, saying he believes that local government plays a crucial role in improving life and dealing with global issues, and that he is very pleased to collaborate with the Peres Center and the Israeli government on this initiative.
