President Rivlin at the event:

“We see you. We also see your strength, your might and also the difficulties. We salute you for every small victory, for every day that you get through with pain and effort.”

President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin  today, Sunday 15 December / 17 Kislev, visited Beit HaLochem in Tel Aviv and spoke at a special event marking the day honoring those injured in Israel’s wars and terrorist attacks. Chair of the Zahal Disabled Veterans’ Association Idan Kleiman, Chair of the Organization of Victims of Terrorism Abie Moses and Lt (res.) Ahiya Klein, who was injured in an IED attack in Gaza in 2013, also spoke at the event.

“Today, we also want to acknowledge the battle after the battle, the daily and hourly struggle,” said the president at the beginning of his remarks. “Today, we want to say We see you. We also see your strength, your might and also the difficulties. We salute you for every small victory, for every day that you get through with pain and effort.”

“The family of injured IDF veterans and those injured in terrorist attacks is one big family – too big,” added the president. It is a family that gains members each year, unfortunately. Those who have been through battle and the process of rehabilitation can tell of the depths, but also about how to climb back up, about the ongoing struggle, but also of the life that is possible and achievable with the injuries and trauma. That spirit and belief that is here today, it is like a cool drink for a tired spirit. Your heroism and the struggle give us strength to carry on. Be well, and God bless you.”
