Israel President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin, Tuesday 2 April 2019 / 26 Adar II, held a working meeting with Premier Doug Ford of Canada, ahead of the Israel-Canada Business Forum which both attended.
The president thanked the premier for his friendship, and his work to create closer relationships between the Israeli and Canadian business communities. He also noted the premier’s strong stance against anti-Semitism, saying “what you do to combat anti-Semitism isn’t just important for the Jewish community. Anti-Semitism and xenophobia affect the whole world. We no longer live in a world of right and left, but rather of right and wrong. You are on the right side.”
President Rivlin also invited Premier Ford to visit him in Jerusalem when he visits Israel at the head of a business delegation from Ontario.
Premier Doug Ford: “I was pleased to meet with President Rivlin today. Our successful meeting was a great opportunity to discuss the strong friendship and long-standing partnership between Ontario and Israel, one of Ontario’s top trading partners in the Middle East. I am pleased that this trade relationship has been growing in recent years, supported by the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement. President Rivlin’s visit with a delegation of more than 20 business leaders shows one more way Ontario is open for business and open for jobs. I look forward to growing our partnership to benefit people and businesses across Ontario and Israel.”
